Freespira Intern

Description: I worked as data analyst and quality engineering intern at a biotech start-up named Freespira. They had developed a novel breathing device that non-invasively treated patients with PTSD who frequently suffer from panic attacks and anxiety. This was a valuable experience where I witnessed the inner workings of how companies are built up from early stages. My work specifically dealt with writing documents to satisfy FDA requirements of biotech companies. I also got a look at how medical start-up companies need to work with insurance companies to turn a profit.

Pioneer Workshop

VentureWell is a venture-capital-style non-profit organization for college student venture ideas. I first-authored a grant application to VentureWell’s International BME-IDEA E-team program for the LowCostomy project (see Global Experience Section). As part of receiving this grant, attendance to their annual entrepreneurship workshop is required. I will be attending this conference January 2023. This conference will give me an opportunity to craft a sustainable business plan with the help of expert opinions. One of the most powerful ways to bring your research work into society is through entrepreneurship. Thus, the LowCostomy project and this entrepreneur workshop will give me the experience needed to successfully bring better engineered medicines into the market.
